| The University of A1 |
The University of A1 is a state-run educational institute run by the government of the Most Glorious People's Republic of A1, a micronation.
It came into being in January 2010, following recommendations and work put in by the specially formed 'A1 Higher Learning Institute Investigation Committee' begun in October 2009.
We do not claim to have similar course outlines or qualifications as macronational universities, nor do the qualifications obtained by undergoing one of our courses carry the same weight as those obtained at macronational universities and should not be seen as such. The existence of the university serves as a source of qualification for citizens of A1 and those in the wider micronational world. However, this does not stop others from undertaking one of our courses.
Although the courses are still under construction, one course will be publically available until most courses have been completed - Masters of History. This is designed to give those who may undertake the courses in the future a taste of what is to come. However, the course is a 'proper' course of the University of A1, and the qualification obtained still stands.
But isn't it easy to cheat?Being a purely online university, there is a risk that candidates will cheat, especially in Bachelor degrees. However, for Doctorates and Masters degrees, there is a final examination which requires some sort of assessment that is either impossible or very hard to cheat on (e.g. an essay).
